Chris Miller
Chris joined London Transport in 1963 as a Graduate Trainee Civil Engineer. He progressed through design, construction site management to Design Team Leader, mainly on Rail Bridge renewals, becoming a Chartered Civil Engineer in 1970. Later he changed careers into management training, designing and running courses - many residential - for staff at all levels within LT.
Chris first became a member nominated trustee of the LT 1970 Superannuation Fund in 1983, continuing as a Trade Union [TSSA] nominated foundation Trustee of the TfL Pension Fund, until 1995.
As a pensioner, he was re-elected as a Trustee of the Fund in 2005. He served on the Audit and Investment Committees and was a founder member of the Alternatives and Liability Hedging Committee. He was also a member, briefly Chair, of the Operations Committee, being influential in 2006 in the separation off of Actuarial Valuation into a new Actuarial Valuation Committee (AVC). He has been Vice Chair of the AVC since its inception, and it is now the sole committee of which he is a member.
